REGINA -- Brendan Taman and Corey Chamblin are now tied at the hip. Taman, the Saskatchewan Roughriders general manager, signed an extension that keeps him under contract with the CFL club through the 2017 season. Last month, Taman re-signed Chamblin as the clubs head coach for the next four seasons. "Corey Chamblin is a big part of making me look good," Taman told reporters Wednesday. "I had a lot of faith in him when we hired him and he continues to show that." However, Taman also received a promotion, adding the title of vice-president of football operations to his job description. "Im excited about this," said Jim Hopson, the Riders president and chief executive officer. "I think we have a good team, a good organization and weve got some people who are very important to making us a good organization and Brendan is one of them. "We need continuity so with Brendan and Corey under contract through 2017 I feel really good as I look to the future." Chamblin guided the Riders to a Grey Cup title last year, just his second with the CFL club. Taman certainly did his part, not only hiring Chamblin as head coach in 2012 but strengthening Saskatchewans 13 roster by acquiring slotback Geroy Simon -- the leagues all-time leading receiver -- from the B.C. Lions, hiring George Cortez as offensive co-ordinator and dipping into free agency to add such proven veterans as defensive linemen Ricky Foley and John Chick and defensive back Dwight Anderson. Saskatchewan finished second in the West Division with an 11-7 record -- Calgary was first with a league-best 14-4 record -- before downing B.C. 29-26 in the conference semifinal. That set up a showdown with the Stampeders at McMahon Stadium that the Riders won 35-13. Saskatchewan capped its season to remember by beating Hamilton 45-23 before a rabid Mosaic Stadium gathering of 44,710. It was the Riders fourth Grey Cup title but first one on home soil as well as being Tamans first CFL championship. "Last year was obviously a pretty special year, thats not a secret for anybody," Taman said. "I was in the boardroom (Tuesday) and looked at our Grey Cups on the wall and I went from 66 to 89 to 07 to 13. "Theres 23-year gap from the first (to second), then theres 18 years and then theres six years. My goal this year is to make that less than six and ideally that would be one if we can do it. "Everyone has the notion that we went all-in last year and were very aggressive and thats very true. But this year is no different. Were driven to win in this business and this organization has been very successful over the last while and were going to continue to strive to do that." Taman, a native of Saskatoon, has been the Riders general manager since 2010 and his previous deal was set to expire following the 2015 campaign. "Obviously its a real special day for me to do this," Taman said. "I wanted to be here for a while and in this business thats not always the easiest thing to do. "Any good organization has sound, consistent relationships at the top. Jim is a great leader, we have a really good relationship, we have an open dialogue all the time. Hes a huge part of our success in this whole organization." Taman also praised the work of player-personnel director Craig Smith, football research and development co-ordinator Terry Baskier and assistant GM Jeremy ODay. Taman went so far as to say ODay -- a former Riders offensive lineman -- will be a CFL general manager one day. "Im so fortunate to work with him," Taman said. "Hes such a bright guy. "He brings a lot to the table and puts me in a good light because of how good he is." DeMarcus Cousins Jersey . -- D. J. Williams finally has his packing strategy down. The Brazilian-born strikers brace drew him level with Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo as the leagues leading scorers with 17 goals apiece through 16 rounds. "The important thing is to help the team win, not the goals," Diego Costa said. After a first half dominated by defence, Atletico pressed Valencia into its area and Diego Costa did the rest. Warriors Jerseys From China . Tony Parker had 33 points and nine assists and San Antonio never trailed in a resounding 116-92 victory over Portland, bullying the younger Trail Blazers in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals.NEW YORK -- Stephen Currys last Madison Square Garden performance was breathtaking, the most dazzling display of outside shooting ever at the famed arena. It resulted in a loss, so Curry tried a different tactic Friday night -- and ended up making more MSG history. Curry had 27 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists in three quarters, Klay Thompson added 25 points, and the Golden State Warriors sent the frustrated New York Knicks to a fifth straight loss with a 126-103 victory. Returning to the site of his sensational shooting performance of a year ago, when he scored a career-high 54 points on 11-of-13 shooting from 3-point range, Curry showed off his entire skill set in this one. "To get a win this year is bigger than any stats, but to play well and to impact the game the way I wanted to, it definitely felt great," Curry said. Curry joined LeBron James as the only visiting players with a 50-point game and a triple-double at the current MSG, opened in 1968. Knicks Patrick Ewing, Bernard King and Carmelo Anthony also did it. "Ive had teammates that had big nights a year ago and right away theyre thinking, Im going to have another big night scoring the basketball," Golden State coach Mark Jackson said. "Thats not Steph Curry. Hes an unselfish basketball player and hes all about the team." The NBAs assists leader made five 3-pointers, as did backcourt mate Thompson. The 6-foot-3 All-Star also grabbed nine defensive rebounds in his fourth career triple-double and third this season, bouncing back from one of his worst performances of the season. He had a season low-tying five points on 2-of-10 shooting Wednesday in a 103-83 loss to Chicago. Golden State easily rebounded from that defeat to win for the fifth time in six games. Anthony had 23 points and 16 rebounds for the Knicks, blown out for the second straight night in a season thats starting to feel hopeless no matter what the sorry Eastern Conference standings say. They seem to know it, with an agitated Tyson Chandler thrown out in the fourth quarter after picking up two technical fouls, the first for shoving Warriors backup Marreese Speights. "Its not a mental thing, its a heart thing," Knicks forward J.R. Smith said. "You cant let people score 400, 50 points in the paint over and over again, then we aint going to win.dddddddddddd We aint going to win games like that." New York is six games behind eighth-place Atlanta. "I keep saying weve got to figure it out, figure it out, but its time where we should have it down pat by now," Anthony said. "We shouldnt be in this position. But weve got games to play." The Knicks lost by 26 at Miami on Thursday, but they were in that game in the second half. This one was over long before halftime, when fans booed them as they trudged off to the locker room. A couple of "Fire Woodson! Fire Woodson!" chants broke out at Madison Square Garden in an atmosphere that was completely different from the Warriors visit here on Feb. 27, 2013. Even Knicks fans cheered that night every time Curry pulled up in the second half. But the Knicks managed to win the game, pulling out a 109-105 victory after Raymond Felton blocked one of Currys late jumpers. This time, Felton got a mixed reception when he was introduced during starting lineups for his first home game since his arrest on felony weapons charges. And the Knicks (21-38) never had any chance of winning, losing for the eighth time in nine games. Golden State led 38-27 after one behind 12 points from Curry. Steve Blake opened the second with a 3-pointer and Jermaine ONeal followed with a basket to make it a 16-point lead, and after the Knicks cut it to 10, the Warriors put it away by closing the half with a 15-4 spurt to open a 73-52 bulge. Playing without Iman Shumpert (sprained left knee), Andrea Bargnani (left elbow) and Kenyon Martin (left ankle), the Knicks also were without Amare Stoudemire on the second night of the back-to-back, with coach Mike Woodson saying his knee was bothering him a little bit. NOTES: Curry is one behind Indianas Lance Stephenson for the NBA lead in triple-doubles. Russell Westbrook also had a triple-double by the end of three quarters against the Knicks on Christmas Day. ... The Knicks played some Jackson highlights during a first-half stoppage in tribute to the Warriors coach, a New York native, Knicks first-round pick and Rookie of the Year who spent his first six seasons with the franchise and later returned for a second stint.
